Gender Predictions

Ben wants a boy and I want a girl. We're a house divided. Since we have a boy dog, it's only fair that we have a girl baby. That way I won't be boy trapped anymore! I'm kidding. I'll be thrilled either way. We get to go to our gender appointment this coming Wednesday and I am so excited! I have heard that it might be a little too soon to tell because I will only be 15+1 weeks at this appointment, however I know several people who have found out much sooner! Two weeks after this appointment we go back to our actual OB to find out the gender from them. So hopefully they say the same thing! I have this fear that they are going to tell me that it's a boy and then they come out a girl! Or the other way around. That would crazy. Anyway, here are some old wives tales (that are probably totally inaccurate) to give us a hint before we find out is baby D is a he or a she!

Chinese Gender Chart: Claims to have an accuracy rate of over 90%. It is based on how old the mother is at conception and the month that she conceived. Result: Girl

Dreams: If you dream you are having a boy, you will have a girl. If you dream you are having a girl, you will have a boy. Dreams show the opposite of what you are having. Result: Girl

Side You Rest On: If a pregnant women prefers to lay on her left side, she's having a boy. If she prefers her right side, she's having a girl. Result: Girl

Breast Test: If a pregnant women's left breast is larger, she's having a girl. If the right one is larger, she's having a boy. Luckily the girls have evened out for me since the beginning of my pregnancy, but there was a time things were not so symmetrical. Result: Girl

Ring Test: Tie a pregnant woman's wedding ring to a string and hold it over her belly. If the ring swings in a circle, it's a girl. If it swings back and forth, it's a boy. Result: Boy

What do you think?: 71% of the time, the mom-to-be knows what she is having. Result: Girl

Morning Sickness: If you had a smooth pregnancy, it's a boy, If you were sick or felt nauseous during pregnancy, count on a girl. Result: Girl

Protein: When a woman craves meat and cheese, count on a boy. I've been wanting steak and lunch meat a lot. However, chicken and shrimp are not my favorite right now. But since I'm still wanting other kinds of meat, I'm gonna say boy. Result: Boy

Hands are Dry: Despite the fact that I'm drinking WAY more water than normal, my hands are still super dry. If your hands are constantly dry, it's a boy. Result: Boy

Headaches: If you are having headaches, you might be carrying a boy. Result: Boy

Heart Rate: If baby's heart rate is above 140 bpm, it's said to be a girl. If it is under 140 bpm, it's a boy. At my first ultra sound it was around 120 bpm. Since then it's been above 140 bpm so I'm going to say girl! Result: Girl

Mayan Tale: The Mayan Tale adds the mother's age at conception (21) to the year of conception (2015). If the result is an even number (2,036), Mom is having a girl. If it's odd it's a boy! Result: Girl

Cravings: People believe that if you are craving salty foods while pregnant, you can count on a boy. If you crave sweets, fruit, and orange juice, you are having a girl. Result: Girl

Skin Under Left Eye: The eye test is when a "V" or "branches" appear when you pull down the skin under your left eye. If you have it, it's a girl. Result: Girl

What Your Parent's Had: You can find out the sex by going off the history of your parent's kids and the order. If you are the first born, you will have what your mother had but starting with her second child. If you are the middle child, you will have what she had, but starting with the third child. If you are the last child, you will have what your mother had in the exact order. But I think this only works if your parents had three kids, in which case it's a boy! Result: Boy
