We're going to have a little less room in our new home because - we are having a baby!
I most definitely thought I wouldn't be saying this for a few more years but we are so excited! And for those of you wondering, no. I'm not concerned with raising a baby in a camper for the first few months of their life. So many women have managed with much less and I am confident that I'll make it through without loosing my mind. Maybe (;
I told Ben that I was pregnant before I had even taken a test. I just knew. He didn't believe me even after a positive pregnancy test. I'm pretty sure he was in full on denial mode.
I scheduled an appointment with my OB and saw our little babe at 6 weeks. Their heart beat was 120 bpm and let me just tell you, that is a magical sound.
I wanted to start tracking things a little early but waited to share the news until I was closer to my second trimester.
Here are my thoughts about pregnancy so far.
How Far Along: 9 weeks, 4 days
Weight Loss/Gain: I'm not exactly sure at this point, my belly looks about the same but my boobs are a different story!
Sleep: I've been exhausted by 9 every night and I feel like I could take naps for the rest of my life. I usually get headaches at the end of the day too. This baby making is hard work! I've always been a side sleeper but my tummy is feeling super comfy these days. Which is totally awesome because I know that will be out of the question in no time at all.
Cravings/Aversions: Oranges. Hardcore. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner man. Fun Fact: that's what my mom craved with me. Is baby D a girl?! I've had some serious morning all-day sickness but I can usually curb it by snacking throughout the day. Oh, and brushing my teeth makes me gag about ten times more than usual so that's cool.
What I Miss: I'm not a drinker but a mimosa is calling my name.
Belly Button: I inherited this *super* cute thing from my mom where my tummy pulls right across my belly button. So in a few months when I get a bump, it won't be nice and smooth, I'll probably have an inverted speed bump right across my navel. (That makes me want an orange).
Mood: Tired all of the time & slightly cranky but that's probably not pregnancy related (;
Milestones: My entire registry is complete and organized already, oops. I'm excited about hitting double digits in the next few days!
Best Moment: Finding out how far along I really am (I had estimated myself to be two weeks ahead of what I really was!) and hearing Baby Dehne's heartbeat. Telling all the family was really special too!
Looking Forward To: Getting a real bump and finding out the gender. (: Not being able to buy anything is driving me crazy!
Baby's Development: Baby is considered an embryo and is the size of a green olive. Facial features are becoming more distinctive and the eyes are fully formed. The heart will finish splitting into four chambers and begin to form valves this week. The placenta is mature enough to produce hormones and feed the baby.
