I hope your Easter weekend was filled with family, fun and yummy food! We hosted for the first time this year and I think I want to host every holiday because LEFTOVERS. Seriously, so worth spending the whole day on my feet. Even though they actually really really hurt later that night. Thanks pregnancy!
We had ham with a honey mustard glaze, brown sugar and bacon green beans, garlic balsamic carrots, my mom's mashed potatoes and my grandmother's famous salad! All of it was so good!
We topped it off with this orange chiffon cake and homemade butter milk ice cream. I actually failed to see that the recipe calls for frozen orange juice concentrate so instead of running to the store I just juiced almost an entire bag of clementine oranges instead. I would definitely recommend remembering that to make your life about 35,000,000 times easier. My second recommendation would be to follow a different ice cream recipe. While the one included with the cake was alright, it had a somewhat sour taste with how much buttermilk it called for. It paired decently with the cake but if you're a fan of good ole vanilla, I'd personally go with that instead!
It really was a great weekend. We finished up the pool fence, went out to celebrate a friend's birthday and enjoyed spending Sunday with our family. Caisley really dug having a seat at the head of the table where her audience had a clear view of her. That girl, such a ham!
