It's been one whole month with our baby! This post is a few days late since I'm a bit busy doing that mom thing & fighting a cold.
Four days old
- The way you make that cute sound if you miss a sneeze
- The way you crinkle your forehead as you wake up
- The way you "fake" cry in your sleep
- Your untamable hair
Nicknames: Mama, sister, sister-girl, munchie or Munchkin, princess, baby.
Likes: being worn in her wrap, the boob, bouncing, butt pats, black and white patterns, looking at herself, watching tv(!!) even though I always turn her away from it, & music
Dislikes: bath time, her car seat, not being held
She has a fussy time in the evening. This is marked by what I call "fighting the boob". During the day, she eats just fine. When she's fussy around this time, she calms down by nursing. However she doesn't really want to eat, she just wants to pacify herself so when she gets a mouthful of milk she yanks her head back and cries and then we readjust. This happens several times before my let down slows and she is able to fall asleep.
As for sleeping at night, she does so well! We are bed-sharing so she sleeps right next to me. She falls asleep nursing usually and then we sleep facing one another. She usually wakes up twice during the night and goes right back to sleep which has been great. We wake up around 8-9am. I feel like co-sleeping has made getting rest so much easier. Eventually I plan on transferring her to her bassinet once she's a little older and can self-soothe but for now I'm enjoying the cuddles!
We've had an exciting first month! She took her first road trip and celebrated her first holiday! We introduced Caisley to our best friends and said our "see you later" since we're about to be thousands of miles away from them!
Bucklee is adjusting to life in second place. He's very protective of his sister and is especially interested in sniffing her when she has a stinky butt!
We're so excited about taking Caisley to Arizona so she can meet half of her family! (Actually Ben is not excited about sharing her.) But it will be so exciting to celebrate Christmas with a baby & Mama is also looking forward to an uninterrupted nap!
I can already tell she's getting bigger. Her little tiny baby hands have grown and she's developing chunky arm rolls and little pot belly! I'm waiting on those chunky thighs to come in so her cloth diapers fit her just a little bit better.
Motherhood has been everything I thought it would be & more. Don't get me wrong, things aren't always blissfully perfect. We both have moments when we get frustrated but that's all they are. Just moments that pass by and then we get stare at one another for hours on end again. We're working on social smiles. She's flashed me a few but Dad has yet to catch one. I think he might just melt when that day comes! I can't wait to watch their relationship grow. It's already the most adorable thing I've ever witnessed, well besides her!
Spending time with great-gran!
