A Black & White Birth Story

Well, I'm writing about babies sooner than you thought I would huh?!
I spent this past week in the oh-so-lovely 29 Palms, California with one of my very best friends. I was lucky enough to be there for Amber during the birth of her second daughter.

I've known Amber since I started dating Ben. I would come to 29 Palms to visit him and we would stay at Amber & Quentin's house. Being in the military, or being married to someone who is in the military, is hard. You're far away from everyone you know & love and the Marine Corps becomes your family. As much as I hate it sometimes, I am so thankful that it has brought me to meet some of the most important people in my life. Amber, you are like a sister to me & my world would not be as wonderful if you weren't in it. Thank you for letting me be a part of one of the most miraculous events that could ever take place, the birth of your baby girl Harlee Maye.

Watching a woman give birth is probably the greatest thing I've ever seen in my entire life. There are so many emotions involved. It took everything in me not to bawl my eyes out while Harlee was being born. Thank God I was holding a leg to keep myself distracted! I was even able to cut Harlee's umbilical cord! I just want to say thank you again for letting my be a part of this experience.
I'm so happy to have been a part of you baby girl's life from the very beginning!
Amber, you were a rock star and I hope to have even half of the grace you showed during childbirth when it comes time for me to have babies!

Mommy & Daddy stayed at the hospital that night and I stayed the night with Rylee at home.
I'll let you guess who ended up getting more room on the couch!
